Global Youth Service Day

As a former Girl Scout leader, I have a soft spot for youth led service projects. Global Youth Service Days are April 23-25, and there are so many ways kids and teens can make a difference. Youth Service America has videos and project tip sheets to help you get started. One that caught my eye is called Spread Peace, Say Something. Kids share messages of peace and kindness and make a “calm box” craft for someone who might be feeling anxious. Another way to share these messages is to paint rocks and leave them for people to find in parks and other public places. Here’s one that popped up on my walk in Purgatory Park last week.

Here’s to Amanda Gorman, our national youth poet laureate, and other inspiring youth as they strive to help us all see the light!
