Happy Valentine's Day
If you have a child in your life or are expecting a baby, keep reading. February is American Heart Month, but it often comes and goes without taking meaningful action to improve our health or the health of our family. Did you know:
At least one child dies from choking on food every five days in the U.S., and more than 12,000 children are taken to a hospital emergency room each year for food-choking injuries.
Bystanders tend not to help because they don’t know what to do.
It only takes minutes for a child to suffer brain damage from lack of oxygen.
There is something you can do. Take a Pediatric CPR and First Aid class. What you learn may save someone’s life.
I renewed my certification in January through my school district’s community education department and it feels good to be prepared. I recommend that all expectant parents and grandparents take this course before their baby is born.
