Have Hope
It seems as if the whole world could use an extra dose of hope. Parents are trying to keep their families well while keeping the boss happy. Baby’s first word is now “pivot” (new worst buzzword) as parents navigate daily shifts from daycare to homecare and in school to remote learning. If you live in the Bold North, dark cold days can begin to affect a normally perky parent’s outlook. Despite the news (turn off the news…), there ARE still plenty of good things happening all around us.
HOPE
HAPPY: Spend time each day doing something that brings you joy. Cuddle your fur friend on the couch. Soak in a warm bubble bath. Hike through the woods being mindful of the forest sounds and smells. Wear (or decorate with) something yellow or green which are colors associated with hope. Set up a SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) therapy lamp at your desk or repot some indoor plants.
OTHERS: Do something kind for others. Write a letter to someone who could use “real mail”. Surprise someone you don’t know by picking up their lunch tab. Tell your spouse/parent/child you love them. Compliment a teen.
PRAY: Meditate, listen, and look for God’s activity in your life. Journal about your joys and concerns, then reflect to see patterns and set new intentions. End each day with a prayer of gratitude.
EXPECT: Harness the Law of Attraction. Think optimistically to attract positive results. For all you pessimists, take the 30-day Law of Attraction Challenge and see what happens. Can’t hurt to try!
I hope the HOPE acronym will rekindle your faith in the world and give you inspiration to greet each day with confidence.
