It's a Family Tradition

Kids love traditions. Fall and winter offer so many opportunities to start or maintain a tradition. Halloween, Diwali, Thanksgiving, Rosh Hashanah, and Christmas are just a few examples, but traditions don’t need to be significant holidays.

“We always” is a good gauge of what your child considers a tradition. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

• Make pizza on Friday night and choose a show to watch as a family (in your jammies).

• Whip up a batch of pancakes on Sunday morning before going to church.

• Enjoy Sunday dinner at Grammy and Grandpa’s house. As kids get older, make a dish together to share.

• Take a family hike with your dog after (or before) the Thanksgiving meal.

• Celebrate New Year’s by having a dance party with your neighbors.

If you don’t have family traditions, create your own. They don’t need to be big or expensive, just fun and repeated year after year.
